About This Tour
Start with a scenic flight from Perth over the foothills and into outback Australia, soaring over colourful lakes between forests and farmland. After landing, our guides drive you to Wave Rock, one of WA’s premier attractions, to enjoy its stillness in the cool of the morning and take photos beneath the giant wave.
Nearby is Hippo’s Yawn, a rock formation that looks just like a yawning hippo. Afterwards, enjoy morning tea or a stroll through the wildlife park, Toy Museum or Lace Place before your flight home.
Discover Wave Rock
About 340 km east of Perth near the town of Hyden, Wave Rock is a 15-metre-high, 110-metre-long granite cliff shaped exactly like a breaking ocean wave. It’s part of Hyden Rock, formed from granite around 2.7 billion years old, and its curve was created by weathering below the ground before the surrounding soil eroded away.
Vertical streaks of mineral-stained rock give the wave its bands of grey, ochre and red. The area has deep cultural significance for the local Noongar people, and nearby rock formations carry stories and art that go back thousands of years.
Must-See in Wave Rock

- The walk to the top of Hyden Rock
- Hippo’s Yawn – a rock shaped like a yawning hippo
- Mulka’s Cave – ancient Aboriginal hand stencils
- The colourful salt lakes of the Wheatbelt – seen from the air
